Technology Talks in the Capitol Ohio's new Speaker of the House, Armond Budish, discussed the role technology will play in rejuvenating Ohio during his opening remarks to the 99-member Ohio House of Representatives on January 5. Budish used his first speech of the two-year legislative session to encourage the state to bridge the digital divide. He also highlighted a desire to give all Ohio students access to high-quality education by making interactive classes available via television and the Internet. As an organization dedicated to advocating for public policies that inspire and encourage innovation in technology, we look forward to hearing what technology issues are important to members of the Ohio House and Senate. In fact, we are sending a survey to all Ohio state legislators asking about their views on technology. We are excited to hear from our elected officials to help fulfill the second part of our mission – informing and educating technology consumers about legislative and regulatory issues that impact their lives. TOT recognizes the important role technology can – and should – play in addressing the economic, health care and education challenges facing Ohio. We eagerly look forward to working with both the 128th General Assembly and Ohio consumers to promote high-tech jobs, investment and emerging technologies in our state.
