Facebook attracting older users

Just a few years ago, Facebook was an online hobby reserved for slacking college and high school students. Not anymore.

Facebook’s user demographics are changing  rapidly. Among the site’s 300 million worldwide users, the fastest growing demo is those 35 years old and older.

In the United States, there are more than 9.2 million users 55 years old and older on Facebook. That’s 7% of all users in the U.S. Nearly 300,000 of those are from Ohio.

The growth rate is expected to level, as it has with other age groups. Still, it coincides with a continued increase in Internet and broadband use by older Americans.
